This is a small config guide for Dead Island that me and Wowbagger experiemented
with today to get things working as they should while ingame.

(1) Download this helper tool to be able to tweak a lot of gfx stuff and fov related settings:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=2114535
Disbling bloom and dust effect had the biggest impact for me since the game looks
to washed out otherwise. Also fov setting has an impact.
NOTE: You use this tool to start Dead Island.

(2) If u are running with an ATI gfx card: goto 3D Application Settings->Catalyst A.I. and
disable "Enable Surface Format Optimization". When I had this ticked in I got some
weird textures here and there. All those problems went away when I unticked this
setting.

(3) Disable ingame voice com by going to Control Panel->Sound->Recording tab,
set the Line-In or Auxiliary or something other than your mic to Standard unit.
Then check ventrilo so that the Input device is still the mic you actually use.
This way the game will use your standard unit that isnt connected and it will not
interfer with the mic you are using in ventrilo.
